Merry Christmas,

Updated: Dec 7, 2024

This will be the last blog entry of the year for me as I ease up and spend time with my family. As we all wind down the year, I am sitting here trying to figure out something to write about that will have sustenance. For some 2024 can be forgettable, to others a year to celebrate and for most just another year going by.

I don't like to celebrate "Years". I prefer moments. This is just how I function. Moments, to me, are what make life worth living. I can't focus on big chunks of time because they cause me too much anxiety. I find that focusing on moments and little wins or dealings with little losses helps me navigate life in a healthy kind of manner. However, I do understand when people pack all their moments together into an extended period (ie; week, month, day, year etc). I'm not gonna judge how people do what they do. So long as it works for you and you live the life you want, then great work pal, you're doing great!

I had a moment the other day, as I was watching my kids bring home Christmas cards from school, when I thought about all the people who do not bring home cards. People who don't get to share this season with loved ones. Those who don't have anything to look forward to or to celebrate. This season is commercially the biggest season of the year. The feel good movies are out, the decorations, the lights, the dinners, the get togethers. These are all aimed at making us feel great! But for those who can't commune, these events just help in reminding them how lonely they feel. Notice how I said "feel" and not "are"? Robin Williams said "I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It’s not. The worst thing in life is ending up with people who make you feel all alone”. Many people have a way to commune, either with neighbors, family, friends, organizations, outreach programs, peer support groups, churches, but many don't feel accepted or are in too much emotional distress to take part in communing.

This year, I would like to say to all of you who read this and feel this way that I am here for you. If you need a friendly ear, mine is yours. Just reach out and I will do my best to make time to create space for you. And to all of you who are fortunate enough to commune in a way that brings joy in your heart this festive season, please try to extend some love and empathy to all you come into contact with and try to make someone's season just a bit brighter.

Thank you for reading, I wish all of you to have a joyous season and I hope all of you are making the steps to keep moving forward in life.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

See you in 2025 for more insights on diverse subject all relating to being well.

Franck
